Why Justin Has Become Such A Huge Success

Reflecting – Oprah Winfrey’s Interview With Michael Jackson

In 1993 Oprah Winfrey interviewed Michael Jackson at his Neverland  home which (despite many rumors and slanders), showed an endearing, human and somewhat likeable side to the soft spoken “king of pop”. Michael’s incredible talents, hard work and apparent desire for excellence, has made him an unbelievable talent that the world will continue to marvel at for years to come and long after his passing. In the interview, Oprah also spoke briefly about Michael’s predecessors like the Beatles and Elvis and what it was like to be in the audience of the huge crowds attending their concerts. She then introduced his latest release at the time “give in to me” and marveled at how quickly information could be disseminated to the masses.  Within 24 hours, that interview was seen by millions of Michael’s fans worldwide. This was 1993.

Thoughts on Oprah’s  Interview With Justin Bieber

Let’s fast-forward to 2012 In 2012, Oprah Winfrey interviewed Justin Bieber and acknowledged the ever growing and ever popular presence of social media and the role it primarily and subsequently plays. In Justin Bieber’s case, his talent was discovered via social media (youtube) and he has grown leaps and bounds because of many likeable attributes. Justin is undeniably very talented and gifted. His high pitched boyish voice hasn’t really changed much (at least up to age 19) which is a great thing for male singers because they can still sound exactly like their previous recordings. Justin is charismatic and good-looking on and off the stage like his predecessors  – Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.

Social Media In The Mix

With social media in the mix of it all, Justin’s interview with Oprah was received and viewed instantaneously by millions of fans worldwide. Instant gratification is the trend of the time and Justin’s fans are (predominantly pre-teens and teenagers and mostly female) are at the helm of it all. I think it’s fair to say that this age group understands social media better than any other.
The Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson, all have millions of adoring fans but what is happening with Justin Bieber in the world of Social Media is truly unprecedented.
